Welcome

The Department of Arts, English, and Humanities offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Communication Studies, as well as Associate of Arts and Bachelors of General Studies and Liberal Studies degrees. The department also offers electives in music, philosophy, religion, French, Spanish and courses for the minor in Women’s Studies. AEH is home to two honor societies, Lambda Pi Eta for Communication Studies students and Sigma Tau Delta for English majors and minors, a theater company, The Empty Space Players, and a literary journal for student writers, The Jongleur.

Our undergraduate alumni have gone on to graduate study in English and law as well as careers in the arts, business, and education. The interests of our teaching faculty range from Medieval and Renaissance Studies to Cinema and Media Studies, Postcolonial Theory, Asian Literature, and Contemporary Poetics.

Accreditation

Louisiana State University at Alexandria is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
